The Seventh Seal and the Seven Trumpets
Introduction
• Fallen Condition Focus: We struggle to believe that God really takes our prayers seriously because of the period of silence. We don't like to wait. We struggle with waiting on God's timing and understanding his purposes. We lose fervency and earnestness in our prayers. We may stop praying altogether out of despair and anger. We wonder why it seems that God is not answering our prayers.
• Sermon Proposition: Since the Lord our God receives our prayers on his altar, we ought to never think that our prayers are disregarded because of silence or a delay in time, but always trust in the Lord to answer us.
• Purpose: To renew our faith in our Almighty God who in his love and wisdom faithfully answers the prayers of his elect
I. Since the Lord our God receives our prayers on his altar, we ought to trust in the Lord's power to answer us (Rev. 8:3, 4)
II. Since the Lord our God receives our prayers, we ought to trust in the Lord's wisdom to answer us (Rev. 8:1-5)
III. Since the Lord our God receives our prayers on his altar, we ought to trust in the Lord's love to answer us (Rev. 8:3, 4)
