The Prayer of the Afflicted One
Introduction
Fallen Condition Focus: We are mortal beings who will die because of our sin and the punishment of death. Our time on earth is short and full of suffering and affliction. Without God we can easily fall into despair and hopelessness.
Sermon Proposition: Since our God saves the poor and afflicted ones, we ought to put our hope in him and pray to him
I. The prayer of the afflicted one is genuine (Ps. 102:1-2, 24)
II. The prayer of the afflicted one is based on God's nature, character and saving works (Ps. 102:12-28)
III. The prayer of the afflicted one is confident in God (Ps. 102:12-28)
So What?
We need to pray for ourselves and God's people
We need to wait upon God for his timing
We need to record what God has done and share it
