The Prayer of Confession

Introduction
Fallen Condition Focus: The human predicament is such that we find ourselves as children of Adam and Eve born into sin, allowing sin to rule our lives and destroy our souls. Sin kills. Unfortunately, even if we know this, we can try to hide our sin, deny it's there in our souls, and live with the weight and burden of it day and night.
Sermon Proposition: Since the Lord our God is a merciful God who forgives our iniquities and sins, we ought to run to him confessing our sins and enjoying his blessings.

I. The Blessedness of the Lord's Forgiveness (Psalm 32:1-2; Rom. 2:4; 5:8; Heb. 4:15, 16)

II. A Testimony of Confession to the Lord (Psalm 32:3-5; Prov. 28:13; Ps. 66:18; Ex. 34:6, 7; Matt. 6:12; James 5:16)

III. An Exhortation to Confess our Sins to the Lord (Ps. 32:6-11; Is. 55:6, 7; Ps. 139:23-24)
