"The Parable of the Ten Virgins"

Introduction
Fallen Condition Focus: We are masters of procrastination and living foolishly. We often put off the most important thing to our relationship with God, prayer. We often make many excuses and avoid sitting down with our Lord to have a heart-to-heart talk. We don't realize how important our prayer life is to being known by and knowing our Lord.
Sermon Proposition: Since the Lord is returning and warns us to watch and be ready, we ought to faithfully watch in prayer for the coming of our Lord

I. The Parable of the ten virgins teaches us that we need to be watching so that we will be ready at the time of the Christ's return
This parable calls us to "constant readiness." We need something more than we have right now to faithfully be ready for Christ. We receive grace that through prayer.

II. God's Part - what he began in you he will bring to completion (Phil. 1:6)

III. Our part - constant readiness (Phil. 2:12-13)

Prayer is the divine-human conversation that is the means to a living faith relationship with the living God. We pray because we are seeking to know God and to be known by Him.
