The Lord's Song and Warning for Us
Introduction
Fallen Condition Focus: Our sinful nature can lead us back into selfish living even if we have been touched by grace. Instead of bearing good fruit that is pleasing to our Father, we can revert to living according to the flesh and practicing the works of the flesh.
Sermon Proposition: Since the Lord has touched our lives with grace in Christ, we ought to bear good fruit, the fruit of genuine love and mercy
I. The song of the Beloved's vineyard (Isaiah 5:1-7)
"Justice is the righting of wrongs while bloodshed is the inflicting of wrongs. Righteousness is right living and right relationships while to cry …indicates wrong relationships and the anguish of the oppressed." (J. Alec Motyer, The Prophecy of Isaiah, 69)
II. Christ, the true vine (John 15:1-11; Matt. 22:34-40; Rom. 13:8-10)
III. What kind of fruit are we bearing?
