The Lord's Holy Presence Among Us
Introduction
• Fallen Condition Focus: We are a sinful people and cannot dwell in God's holy presence and live.
• Sermon Proposition: Since the holy Lord of hosts graciously provides for the atonement of human sins through his Son Jesus Christ, we ought to offer ourselves willingly to serve him
A. Isaiah's vision of the holiness of the Lord of Hosts (Is. 6:1-4; cf. Rev. 4)
• God graciously makes himself known to us
B. The prophet had a revelation about himself (Is. 6:5; cf. Is. 53:6; Rom. 3:23)
• God graciously reveals to us our great need
C. The Lord's grace saved Isaiah (Is. 6:6-7; 1 Tim. 2:5-6; 1 John 2:1-2; 4:9, 10)
• God graciously provides for us a mediator, Christ his Son, who atones for our sins through his shed blood
D. Isaiah's response to the Lord's grace (Is. 6:8: cf. Rom. 12:1; Eph. 2:8-10)
• God graciously receives us into his presence in Christ and makes us a part of his plans of redemption in the world
