Introduction
• Fallen Condition Focus: We are born into darkness, ignorance of God. Darkness is created by deception. We fall into deception when we believe the devil's lies about God and ourselves. We can be born again, but fall back into self-deception and walk in darkness if we are not living according to God's commandments. We can be living a lie.
• Sermon Proposition: Since the True Light came to make known to us God, we ought to come to Christ and receive His light.
• Purpose: To call us to come and to receive Christ's light this Advent

I. Our problem: we are born into darkness (Matt. 4:16; Jn. 3:19; 12:46)

II. God's plan: God has sent his Word, the true light, to save us from our darkness (Jn. 1:9-13)

III. Our part: Those who receive God's Word, the True Light, Jesus, can become children of God and walk in God's light
A. Come to the True Light (John 1:9; John 1:12; Matthew 11:28
B. Continue walking with the True Light every day (Jn. 8:12; Matt. 16:24
C. Carry the light of Christ to others (Matt. 5:14-16)
