The Incarnation of the Son
Introduction
• Fallen Condition Focus: We are ignorant of God the Father. We cannot know God apart from the revelation of his Son. We think we can know who God is apart from Jesus, like those of Jesus' day. Secondly, we stop short of becoming children of God because we satisfied with information about him. We are satisfied with knowing about God, but not seeking a living relationship with him.
• Sermon Proposition: Since God the Son came to make known to us his Father, we ought to receive him, become children of God and pursue a living relationship with our heavenly Father
• Purpose: To invite each of us to become children of God by receiving Jesus and by pursuing a living relationship with our heavenly Father through him.
I. The Son of God came to make known the glory of the Father (Jn. 1:14; Jn. 14:8ff.)
II. The Son of God came to make known the nature of the Father (Jn. 1:14, 16, 17; 17:26)
III. The Son of God came to make known the will of the Father (Jn. 1:1-3; Jn. 17:13, 14)
