Sin and Death

Introduction
• Fallen Condition Focus: The Bible affirms and teaches that human beings are corrupt because of the original sin of Adam that we inherited and because of our own willful sinful ways.
• Sermon Proposition: Since Christ came to save us from the condemnation of sin and the penalty of death, let us draw near to God through Christ and receive this free gift of justification.
• Purpose: To help us understand the depth of our need as sinners and the sufficiency of God's salvation in Christ that justifies sinners and saves us from condemnation and the penalty of death

I. Human Need: All have sinned and will die (Rom. 3:23; 5:12-21; 6:23; cf. Genesis 2:16, 17; 3:7-8; 4:7-8; Genesis 6:5, 11-13)

II. God's Solution: Jesus Christ, the second Adam, came to destroy the power of sin and death (Romans 5:12-21; cf. Rom. 3:21-26)

III. Our Response: By grace through faith in Christ we are saved from sin and death (Romans 5:15-21; cf. Rom. 3:21-25; 6:23)
