Our Compassionate Shepherd

Introduction
• Fallen Condition Focus: We have strayed and rebelled from the Lord our Shepherd. We stray in our hearts, our thoughts, allegiances, and behavior. We rebel from God's commands
• Sermon Proposition: Because the Lord God our Shepherd is compassionate and has atoned for our sins, we ought to return to him with all of our hearts

I. The Lord is our compassionate shepherd (Psalm 78:38; cf. Exodus 34:6; Psalm 103:8, 13)

II. The Lord has made atonement for our sins through Jesus Christ his Son (Isaiah 53:6; 1 Peter 2:24)

III. Let us return to him with all our hearts (1 Peter 2:25; cf. Rev. 2:4)
