God's Goodness in Redemption

Introduction
Fallen Condition Focus: Our state before we met Christ was one of sin and bondage to evil. (Titus 3:3; cf. Eph. 2:1-3)
Sermon Proposition: Since Christ was sent to saves us because of the love and mercy of God, we ought to devote ourselves to good works in Jesus' name

I. We see God's goodness in Christ's incarnation – God's appearance (Titus 3:4; cf. John 1:14)

II. We see God's goodness in Christ's crucifixion and resurrection – God's mercy (Titus 3:5; cf. 1 John 4:7-10)

III. We see God's goodness in Christ's ascension and the pouring out of the Holy Spirit – God's gift (Titus 3:6, 7; cf. Joel 2:28; Acts 2:33; Rom. 5:5)

So What?
First - Are you saved? Have you received Christ's forgiveness and the gift of the Holy Spirit? Have you been born again?
Second - Since God has shown us his goodness in Christ, we ought to do good works in Jesus' name
