Gluttony and Sloth

Introduction
• Fallen Condition Focus: According to God's Word, eating or drinking to excess, gluttony, and sloth are sins. As fallen creatures with a sin nature, we are all prone to self-indulgence in food and drink and laziness.
• Sermon Proposition: Since the Lord God has given us grace in Christ to live a godly life, we ought to seek the Lord for grace to exercise self-control and opportunities to work.
• Purpose: To call us to repent from self-indulgent living and laziness and turn to the Lord who gives us self-control and empowerment to do his will

I. Since the Lord God has given us grace in Christ to live a godly life, we ought to not be lazy and idle depending upon others for food (2 Thess. 3:6, 10, 11)

II. Since the Lord God has given us grace in Christ to live a godly life, we ought to find meaningful work to provide for ourselves and our family (2 Thess. 3:12)

III. Since the Lord God has given us grace in Christ to live a godly life, we ought to be an example of godliness to others (2 Thess. 3:7, 8; 1 Thess. 4:11)
