Glory to God Alone (Soli Deo Gloria)
Introduction
The Five Solas: Scripture alone, Christ alone, grace alone, faith alone, and glory to God alone.
Fallen Condition Focus: We don't see and recognize God's glory. We are blinded by our own pride, self-importance and sin.
Sermon Proposition: Since God has made known to us his glory in the cross of Jesus Christ, we ought to rightly glorify our Triune God
I. Why ought we to glorify God?
A. We glorify God because he is holy and eternal (Rev. 4:8; cf. Is. 6:2-3)
B. We glorify God because he created us by his will (Rev. 4:10-11; cf. Gen. 1:1; Acts 14:15; Ps. 33:9-11)
C. We glorify God because he ransomed us (Rev. 5:9-10; 1:6; 7:14)
D. We glorify God because he will gather us (Rev. 7:9-10; Jn. 12:13; Ps. 3:8)
II. What is the key to this new way of living? (Rev. 5:6; 1 Cor. 1:18-25; Eph. 1:16-18; Luke 24:30-31)
A. Come to the cross of Jesus Christ
B. Come to Christ in the Lord's Supper
III. How ought we to glorify God?
Give thanks to Him (Col. 1:3, 12; 2:7; 3:15-17; 4:2)
