Envy

Introduction
• Fallen Condition Focus: Envy is one of the sins Christ and other writers of the Bible condemn. They warn us that envy defiles our hearts and destroy us from the inside out. Envy and jealousy can take hold of a person and lead to greater sins such as anger, spite, and murder.
• Sermon Proposition: Since Christ came to give us a new and abundant life, we ought to repent from envy and rest in the gift and grace of Christ
• Purpose: To call us to repent from envy and jealousy and find contentment in the grace and gifts of Christ

I. Since Christ came to give us a new and abundant life, we ought to repent from envy according to the teaching of Christ (Mark 7:14-23)

II. Since Christ came to give us a new and abundant life, we ought to repent from envy and be thankful for the grace of Christ (Jn. 10:10; 2 Cor. 9:15)

III. Since Christ came to give us a new and abundant life, we ought to repent from envy and be content with the gift of Christ (1 Cor. 3:3; 12:12-31; 13:4)
