Bringing in the Tithe

Introduction
Fallen Condition Focus: We like the Jews in Malachi's time, "cheat" the Lord of his tithes and contributions. We too often focus upon our own needs and neglect the care of the house of the Lord thus robbing God of the tithes we owe as an act of worship and obedience.
Sermon Proposition: Since the Lord God has promised to bless us if we bring in the full tithe, we ought to bring in the full tithe and our contributions to the storehouse, the church.

I. Tithing is a step of repentance – returning to the Lord (Mal. 3:6-7)

II. Tithing is a step of obedience – living in submission to God's commands (Mal. 3:8)

III. Tithing is a step of love – giving thanks to God for his mercy (Mal. 3:8)

IV. Tithing is a step of faith – trusting in God's promise that he will provide and bless (Mal. 3:9-12)

V. Tithing is a step of joy – sharing in God's joy in his work (Mal. 3:10-12)
