Text: Hosea 6:1-11

Introduction

• Fallen Condition Focus: We go through the motions of religious observance thinking we can appease our Lord, but we show by our lives we do not know God or what pleases him
• Sermon Proposition: Since God has shown mercy toward us in Christ, we ought to show mercy to all

I. The people had a capricious and fickle love of the Lord (Hos. 6:4)

II. God sent his prophets to call his people to return to him (Hos. 6:5)

III. God delights in showing mercy and he expects his children to show mercy in like manner (Hos. 6:6; cf. Mark 1:40-45; Luke 6:32-36; Ephesians 5:1-2)
