The Road to Bethany
Series: On the Road with Jesus
Sermon Title: The Road to Bethany
Text: Luke 24:36-53
Introduction
- Fallen Condition Focus: We don't worship the risen and ascended Christ, because our faith and understanding of Christ is incomplete.
- Sermon Proposition: Since Christ has been exalted and ascended to the Father, we ought to worship him as our Lord and God
- In other words: To walk to Bethany with Jesus is to encounter the risen and exalted Christ and to worship him
What does it mean to worship the exalted Christ?
I. Confessing his resurrection from the dead (Lk 24:36-43; cf. Rom. 10:9, 10)
II. Trusting in his forgiveness of our sins (Lk 24:44-49; cf. 1 John 1:9; Heb. 4:14-16)
III. Bowing before him in worship as our Lord and God (Lk 24:50-53; cf. Phil. 2:5-11)
